Job Description
Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, you shall supervise a team of equipment engineers, stationary engineers, assistant engineers and a labourer. Your mission shall be to take part in proliferating, maintaining and improving the plant's day-to-day performance. You shall be responsible for providing a safe work environment and enforcing food quality and health requirements. More specifically, the Maintenance Supervisor:
  • Ensures the work schedule is being adhered to and manages his team's duties in accordance with the plant's priorities and with a view toward minimizing production stoppages;
  • Ensures the constant supply of quality utility services (water, steam, ammonia and compressed air);
  • Optimizes manpower use and drafts his team's development plan;
  • Ensures the plant's OHS policies are being applied by his employees and subcontractors (padlocking, confined spaces, hot work, work at height, etc.) and supervises OHS inspections for his department;
  • Actively takes part in investment requests related to modifying the plant's technical processes and after implementation validates whether the initial objectives have been met;
  • Manages projects related to the plant's equipment and buildings;
  • Is responsible for his team's efficiency, the various programs in effect and technical interventions at the plant;
  • Actively takes part in meetings pertaining to the plant's operations in order to properly plan his team's interventions and thus have an impact on the plant's performance;
  • Uses KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of the preventive and corrective maintenance plan intended for the plant's equipment;
  • Is responsible for tracking and adhering to his team's budget, optimizing the use of funds and assets, and thoroughly grasping all of the expenses related to his operations in order to propose innovative ideas aimed at eliminating the unnecessary use of funds and assets as much as possible;
  • Adheres to the planning schedule and recommends improvements designed to meet the objectives.


  • University degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical or automated manufacturing engineering or in a related field, and an active member of the OIQ Québec order of engineers;
  • A DEC Diploma of Collegiate Studies in a similar program coupled with extensive work experience might be also considered;
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience, preferably in the food industry, including two (2) years managing staff;
  • Knowledge of TPM continuous improvement and equipment reliability practices and programs;
  • Autonomy, leadership communication skills (spoken and written).
